Different Perspectives, Same Goal: Learning to Communicate and Collaborate
Some Advice for Align the Perspectives with Work Partner
In my journey as a developer and startup builder, I’ve realized that technical skills are only part of the equation. The other half — and often the harder one — is communication and collaboration.
There were many times when I worked with teammates who loved to give feedback, but not always in a clear or direct way. For example, when we were focusing on building an MVP, the discussion sometimes drifted toward ideas that went far beyond what an MVP should be. I found myself struggling to bring the focus back to the essentials without creating tension.
I’ve also met people who confidently believe they know the best approach — and maybe they do. But I’ve learned that intelligence is relative. What truly matters isn’t how much you know, but how much you’ve experienced and how you apply that experience in real situations.
Everyone has their own perspective, and often, even when we seem to disagree, we’re actually talking about the same goal — just in different ways.
What I’m learning from all this is the importance of understanding before reacting. Instead of proving who’s right, it’s more valuable to find alignment — to listen, clarify, and make sure everyone is aiming at the same outcome. Communication isn’t just about speaking your thoughts; it’s about helping others understand your intent.
My takeaway and advice (for myself and others):
Stay calm when opinions differ — conflict often hides shared goals.
Keep discussions focused on outcomes, not egos.
Always go back to the why — especially when building something like an MVP.
And most importantly, remember that growth comes from understanding, not from being right.
I’m still learning how to express my thoughts better and to work effectively with different kinds of people. But I believe that every challenge like this teaches me how to become not just a better developer — but a better collaborator and problem solver.
